In fondo sarebbe sufficiente il sottotitolo ?24 years louder than hell? per spiegare ad un bambino cosa significa l'appartenenza al movimento metal e nello specifico la partecipazione ad un festival galattico come quello che tutti gli anni viene organizzato nello Schleswig-Holstein. Ogni estate, a nord della Germania, si riunisce il popolo del metal. Ogni edizione, immancabilmente, diventa sold-out a pochi giorni dalla chiusura di quella precedente. Un fenomeno che per qualcuno non avrà spiegazioni, soprattutto in un periodo storico come quello attuale, ma che affonda le proprie radici in un culto senza eguali. Anche stavolta in concomitanza dei tre giorni del festival viene diffusa la testimonianza di cosa è accaduto l'anno prima. Un triplo dvd e doppio cd consigliato a chi desidera farsi rapire dall'energia e dal clima dell'evento. La qualità media dei dvd è ottima con i primi due che schiacciano il terzo come scaletta e rilevanza. Improvvisamente Annihilator, Anthrax ? la loro 'Deathrider' potrebbe essere benissimo presa come manifesto dell'intera release ? Soilwork, Amorphis, Mustasch, Fozzy, Trivium e DevilDriver piomberanno nella vostra stanza e daranno vita ad un mini show comprensivo di tutti gli effetti speciali del caso. Splendida la fotografia e più che discreto il mixaggio audio anche se rimangono i soliti dubbi sulla scelta di inserire più brani per gruppi discutibili e di limitare invece altri. La nota più dolente è però un'altra e non fa altro che confermare il mio pensiero sui Nightwish. In un live che vuole essere più fedele possibile alla realtà tre estratti post-prodotti di 'Showtime, Storytime' stonano in maniera sorprendente e dovevano essere evitati.
