Quattro anni or sono la Cold Spring aveva pubblicato una raccolta, ?John Barleycorn Reborn - Dark Britannica?, presto diventata oggetto di culto e capace di riscuotere un significativo successo di critica e pubblico. Adesso vede la luce il secondo capitolo intitolato ?We Bring You A King With A Head Of Gold?; due ore e mezza e trentaquattro artisti (con il solo Tony Wakeford tra i nomi noti, il che valorizza ulteriormente il lavoro di scoperta della label), che scandagliano il terreno della musica popolare e folk/roots britannica, ponendosi l?obiettivo di tramandare una tradizione secolare da un lato e di collocarla nella contemporaneità dall?altro, ma sempre rispettando i canoni musicali del genere. Il rituale del raccolto si porta appresso i suoni e i sapori di un mondo che non c?è più (per molteplici motivi; condivisibili o discutibili). Il fascino della mitologia pagana e i cicli della Natura rivivono tra i solchi di questo disco, seppur con un certo sentore di ripetitività.
