Il supergruppo voluto da Nuclear Blast ha compiuto dei progressi notevoli e dopo un debutto decisamente trascurabile torna nei negozi con un secondo volume più centrato e interessante. Il “core” è formato da Alex Skolnick dei Testament, che ha curato la produzione assieme a Mark Menghi, da David Ellefson dei Megadeth e dall’ex Dream Theater e Avenged Sevenfold Mike Portnoy. La lista dei cantanti che si sono alternati al microfono per registrare queste dieci tracce è impressionante ma tutto questo era presenta anche in occasione della prima opera. A fare la differenza è il songwriting, più coeso e organico, che appare naturale e scevro da inutili forzature. Sempre di heavy metal si tratta per carità ma in questo bailame di celebrazioni, tra voci estreme e pulite, e un tasso alcolico importante, ‘The Accuser’ e ‘Voodoo Of The Godsend’ spaccano al di là delle performance di Trevor Strnad (The Black Dahlia Murder) e Max Cavalera (Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy). Johan Hegg (Amon Amarth) e Troy Sanders (Mastodon) si sono prestati per due episodi belli tirati come ‘King With A Paper Crown’ e ‘Liars & Thieves’ mentre la suite finale è stata costruita con le vocals di Mark Osegueda, il frontman dei Death Angel era stato uno dei pochi a salvarsi nelle registrazioni precedenti, e Floor Jansen. Un tocco di Nightwish che alle casse dell’etichetta tedesca fa sempre bene.
